We chose the Glades Shopping Centre for our practice as it is in the heart of the community and easily accessible with great transport links, and that has been our home to this day.
We were the first practice in the area to introduce Optomap ultra-widefield imaging. This was a game-changer, allowing us to see up to 80% of the retina in one go—detecting issues that standard cameras simply couldn’t find.
To match our clinical precision, we brought in Lindberg—the gold standard in bespoke, minimalist Danish eyewear. This solidified our reputation as a destination for those who value both technical performance and world-class design. We still have the largest range of Lindberg glasses available in the region and offer a custom-made design service.
We included OCT scanning in our appointments, which provides a detailed cross-section of the eye’s structures, allowing us to see all the layers of the retina, helping to detect serious eye diseases much earlier than traditional methods and improving treatment outcomes.
In a major leap for local eye care, we became the first and only practice in the area to offer EyeDream (Ortho-K). These lenses are meant for children and adults who suffer from short-sightedness and they correct your vision while you sleep. We recently launched a back-to-school campaign to educate parents on EyeDream and how the product can give local children freedom and the confidence to swim, play sports and enjoy an active lifestyle without the restrictions of specs or contact lenses.
We completely transformed our practice environment. Our refit was designed to create a calm, boutique atmosphere that reflects our high-end clinical standards—moving away from the “shop” feel and toward a true healthcare studio.
As a vital community health provider, we remained open for emergency care, investing in new safety protocols and remote support to ensure our patients vision was never at risk during the lockdowns.
We introduced the Zeiss Visufit 1000, using 3D digital centering to take frame fitting to a level of mathematical precision. It ensures that your bespoke lenses are perfectly aligned with your eyes, down to the last millimetre. Inaccurate centration can decrease optical performance by up to 40% and the VISUFIT 1000 eliminates this, resulting in, clearer vision and fewer headaches or eye strain.
Our care plans provide the best eye care combined with an affordable payment plan, so customers can have convenient and uncompromised eye care. We wanted customers to prioritise their eye health and enjoy peace of mind with comprehensive eye care and an affordable payment plan.
BEC has recently invested inan axial biometer, to help determine children at a higher risk of becoming myopic. Biometry is the measurement of the length of the eyeball, which can provide crucial information about a child’s risk for the development and progression of myopia. By regularly monitoring biometric measurements, we can better understand how a child’s myopia progresses and make informed decisions about treatment options.
